Self-Employed and Gig Workers

Wesley Chapel
Wesley Chapel has grown fast, with new neighborhoods, new schools, and now three hospital systems. I help local families and self-employed people find private health insurance, so you know what's covered and what it costs.
My healthcare career began in St. Pete, working as a physical therapist assistant. That job taught me how much a good plan matters when you're recovering from an injury or surgery. Later, an injury of my own put me out of work and left me with medical bills. Now I help Tampa Bay families avoid the surprises I ran into.
Wesley Chapel now has AdventHealth Wesley Chapel, BayCare Hospital Wesley Chapel, and Orlando Health Wiregrass Ranch Hospital, the newest of the three. More choice is great, but your plan's network decides which one you can use at in-network prices.
Before you choose, I check each plan for your doctors, your hospital, and your prescriptions. Networks can also change when a hospital system and an insurance company can't agree on a contract, as AdventHealth and UnitedHealthcare have shown. If you see AdventHealth doctors on a UnitedHealthcare plan, ask me about it.
About 1 in 4 Wesley Chapel residents is under 18, and nearly 9 in 10 are under 65, based on Census Bureau estimates. That's a lot of families buying coverage for kids. About a third of households earn over $150,000, which often puts them past the Marketplace subsidy limit.
Many parents here drive to jobs in Tampa that offer coverage. Covering yourself might be affordable, but adding your spouse and kids can cost a lot. Your family may qualify for Marketplace savings on their own, or a private plan could cost less. I'll show you the numbers both ways.
No group plan? I'll compare options that fit your income and budget.
A policy you buy for your household belongs to you, whatever happens with the business. Ask your tax pro whether your premiums are deductible.
Healthy households over the income limit may find a private plan priced below the Marketplace.
COBRA keeps your old plan, but you'll pay the whole premium plus a fee. You'll have 60 days to switch, so compare before deciding.
Private plans set your price using your age, location, and health questions. Many take applications year-round, but approval isn't guaranteed. Marketplace plans accept everyone and offer income-based tax credits, with enrollment each fall or after a life event. I'll compare both, and I'll tell you if the Marketplace is the better fit. I can add dental and vision too.
The call costs nothing and runs about 5 to 15 minutes. It helps to have your estimate, your doctors, your prescriptions, and your current insurance card or COBRA letter. After you enroll, call or text me directly whenever you need help.
