Health Insurance in Boca Raton for Business Owners and Families

Boca Raton is full of people who run their own show. I help business owners, independent professionals, and families find private health insurance that fits their budget and their care.

Self-Employed in Boca Raton? You're in Good Company

About 1 in 5 working people in Boca Raton is self-employed, based on Census Bureau estimates. Financial advisors, attorneys, consultants, real estate pros, and owners of small firms all have the same problem. There's no HR department picking a plan for you.

Here's what I look at with self-employed clients:

A Plan That's Yours

Individual coverage isn't tied to your company, so it stays with you if you sell, close, or restructure the business.

Total Yearly Cost

The premium is only part of it. I add the deductible and your yearly out-of-pocket ceiling, so you see the full picture.

Taxes

Self-employed people can often deduct their premiums. Your tax professional can tell you what applies.

Earning Too Much for a Marketplace Subsidy

About 35% of Boca Raton households have income of $150,000 or higher. Most of them get no help on the Marketplace. For 2027 coverage, a single person earning more than $63,840 loses the tax credit completely, and so does a household of four above $132,000.

Without a subsidy, a Marketplace plan costs its full list price. Private health insurance works differently. Your price depends on your age, your ZIP code, and your health answers, not your income. For healthy people, that can mean a lower monthly cost for similar care.

Leaving a Job or Paying Too Much at Work

Thinking about leaving a corporate role to start your own firm? COBRA will let you keep your current plan for a while, but you'll be responsible for the entire premium and an added admin fee. You'll also get a 60-day window to enroll in something new once that coverage ends, so we can compare both before you commit.

If your job covers you but adding your family is expensive, your spouse and kids may qualify for Marketplace help, or a separate private policy might cost less. I'll price both.

Boca Raton Hospitals and Your Network

Boca Raton Regional Hospital, part of Baptist Health, recently opened a new nine-story patient tower, and West Boca Medical Center serves the western neighborhoods. Before you apply, I check that the doctors, hospitals, and prescriptions you rely on are covered.

I also pay close attention to specialists, imaging, and therapy visits. My background is in physical therapy, where I was a PTA before switching to insurance, and I know how quickly those costs add up after an injury. If you want dental or vision coverage too, I can add it alongside your health plan.

What to Expect When You Call

Start with an estimate for both kinds of plans. Then book a free call, typically 5 to 15 minutes long. I'll lay out your choices, and there's no pressure to decide that day. Once you're covered, text or call me with questions rather than sitting on hold.

Boca Raton Health Insurance FAQs

  • What if I have a health condition?

It depends on the condition. Private plans review your health history, which can affect approval or price. Marketplace plans have to accept you and can't charge more for health reasons, so if a condition is a concern, we'll weigh both carefully.

  • Will my plan change if I sell or close my business?

Not if it's an individual plan. It belongs to you, not the business.

  • Do you work with people outside the city of Boca Raton?

Yes. I help people in West Boca, Highland Beach, Delray Beach, and Deerfield Beach too.

  • Is my online estimate a quote?

No. It's a starting point for our conversation. Your actual rate depends on the plan, your situation, and, for private plans, the insurance company's approval.
